Zohr-6 Adds 60 MMSCF/D of Gas After Successful Drilling Operations

Published on : 2025-06-27

As part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to boost domestic gas production, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced the successful sidetrack drilling of Zohr-6 well, adding approximately 60 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/D) of natural gas to the current production of the giant Zohr field in the Mediterranean.

This milestone follows the return of the Saipem 10000 offshore drilling rig to Zohr in January 2025, in alignment with the approved development plan. The rig has now moved to begin drilling Zohr-13, which is expected to add 55 MMSCF/D upon completion, based on engineering assessments.

This achievement reflects the strong partnership between the Ministry and Eni, the field operator, and underscores the commitment to accelerate development using the latest deepwater technologies under full support from the Egyptian government to secure energy needs and sustain national production.
